A livestock house comprises a ventilation system having air inlets 12 spaced along the ridge of the roof, each inlet being controlled by a pair of hinged flaps 16. Extraction fans 13 which are spaced along the side walls of the house are thermostatically adjusted. Each inlet 12 is in the form of a box having apertures in the lower inclined faces (12A, Fig. 3) thereof.
