Abstract

724,057. Drying - apparatus. COURTAULDS, Ltd. Nov. 27, 1953 [Nov. 28, 1952], No. 30186/52. Class 34 (2). A drying tunnel 1 for drying wet rayon cakes has six contiguous regions 2 through which the cakes are conveyed each region having a separate air circulating system in which air propelled by a fan 3 in a duct 4 passes over a heater 5 and into region 2 through holes 6, the through region 2 and holes 7 to re-enter duct 4 on the suction side of fan 3. An inlet 8 connected to a source of fresh air and controlled by a damper 9 opens into .duct 4 on the suction side of the fan as does an outlet 10 having a vent 11 to the atmosphere. By adjustment of the rate of entry of fresh air by means of damper 9 the absoolute humidity of the air in each region 2 may be controlled.
