Abstract
554,930. Drying-apparatus. SMITH, A. J. M. Jan. 22, 1942, No. 936. [Class 34 (ii)] Material conveyed by trucks 1-10 continuously or intermittently through a tunnel is dried initially by warm air circulated by a fan 12 through a heater 11, and at a relatively high yelocity over the material in the same direction as it is moving, and is finally dried by atmospheric air drawn in by a fan 18 through a heater 17 and passed at a relatively low velocity over the material in the opposite direction to that in which it is moving. Air from the final section exhausts through a vent 15. Part of the air may be drawn through an aperture 22 into initial section. In a modification a single fan is used and the air is vented after mixture with the circulating air in the initial section through an opening between the fan and the heater 11.
