Abstract

1,162,131 Drying apparatus. AIR DUCTION (STAFFS) Ltd. 2 Sept., 1966 [8 June, 1965], No. 24257/65. Heading F4G. A tunnel drier for pottery comprises a doubleskinned thermally insulated wall 5 forming ducting 10 through which air, heated by heaters 16 is distributed via valved apertures 12 into the tunnel. As shown, fans 13 extract the air from the tunnel 15 and pass it into the duct and a portion of the circulated air is bled off at 17 and the pottery is conveyed from a loading station 7 to an unloading station 8 by trays 3 carried by an endless chain conveyer 2. In a further embodiment the trays and chain conveyer are replaced by an endless, horizontallymounted conveyer which passes through a tunnel drier having both side walls formed with a double-skin, the outer wall of which is thermally insulated.
