Abstract

649,989. Drying-apparatus. INNES & CO., Ltd., J. K., and INNES, J. K. Feb. 14, 1948, No. 4394. [Class 34(ii)] Drying apparatus has a drying compartment and two fan shafts extending parallel to the length of the compartment one at each side thereof, each fan shaft carrying a number of fans delivering a series of parallel air streams and the fans of one shaft delivering into a space of divergent cross-section, the fans of the other shaft extracting air from the drying compartment and delivering it via heating means to the intake of the first fans. As shown, a triple pass continuous conveyer dryer has a chamber k the material being carried therethrough on conveyers n and air is circulated through the material by two groups of fans c in compartments a, the two groups acting in tandem. A heating battery f is arranged between the fan groups and each group consists of a number of fans on a common shaft. Some air is exhausted through exhaust h controlled by dampers n. Another embodiment shows the multiple fans applied to a vertical potters' mangle.
