Abstract

1,274,358. Heat treating; drying tunnels. CARRIER ENG. CO. Ltd. 19 April, 1971 [6 Feb., 1970], No. 5826/70. Headings F4B, F4G and F4U. .A tunnel 1 through which articles are moved for treatment in the tunnel by jets of air, e.g. automobile bodies to be dried after washing or rinsing, comprises blower units each including a fan 7 and a duct 9 which surrounds the tunnel and is provided with nozzles 10 which direct jets of air on to the articles as the latter are moved through the tunnel. 'The input side of the fan 7 nearest the outlet 4 from the tunnel is connected to atmosphere outside the tunnel by a duct 11 and a filter 12. Each of the others of the fans 7 has the input side thereof connected to an extract duct 1-2'through which the fan draws the air blown from thenozzles of the succeeding unit, considered in the direction of movement of the articles through the tunnel. At least the fan nearest the inlet 3 to the tunnel has heater means 13 associated therewith to effect heating of the air delivered by the fan to the nozzles 10 associated therewith.
