Abstract

1364310 Fluidized and solid bed driers BUTTNER-SCHILDE-HAAS AG 22 Oct 1971 [3 Nov 1970] 49241/71 Heading F4G Plastics granules are dried initially in a fluidized bed until their tendency to stick together is lost and then finally dried in a solid bed. In Fig. 1, fresh air is supplied by a blower 13 via a demoisturizer 12 and a heater 14 to a solid bed drier 3, and is exhausted together with exhaust air from the fluidized bed drier 1 by suction through a common conduit 6 for recirculation through the fluidized bed drier 1. A fan 8 conveys the exhaust air through a dust extractor 7 to an air heater 9, to atmosphere, and to the demoisturizer 12 to remove absorbed moisture from the silica gel in it. The dried granules are removed periodically by means of valve 15. In another embodiment, the fluidized bed is annular and surrounds the solid bed drier, the granules being introduced into the fluidized bed at a single point and proceeding around it for nearly a complete turn before sliding down a shoot into the solid bed drier.
