Abstract
1484540 Fluidized drying TEA RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF CEYLON 28 Feb 1975 8488/75 Heading F4G Fluidized drying apparatus comprises an enclosed chamber 1 divided horizontally by a porous or air permeable flat member 4, openings 2 for hot air to enter beneath the porous member 4, openings 3 for hot air to be exhausted above the porous member 4, an opening 8 for the material to be dried to enter at one end of the apparatus and an opening 10 for the material to leave at the other end of the apparatus, and louvre-type dampers 17 are positioned beneath the member 4 for guiding the direction of the hot air stream. The openings 2 are connected to a hot air supply duct 12 by flexible connections 13 and the openings 3 are connected to an exhaust duct 14 by flexible connections 15. The duct 12 has dampers 16 to control the air flow. Side baffles 18 are provided above the member 4 to prevent accumulation of material in the drying chamber. The exhaust duct 14 is connected to a dustcollecting cyclone (not shown) and air leaving the cyclone is returned to the apparatus. Legs 5 support the apparatus and can be pivoted so as to incline the apparatus. In operation fluidization is effected and the material is moved by air directed by the louvres 17, by varying the inclination of the apparatus, by oscillating the apparatus or by a combination of these three operations. The material after drying is discharged through the outlet 10 and the used hot air is exhausted through the duct 14.
