Abstract

953,862. Cigarette-making machines. D. W. MOLINS, J. E. MORRIS, and MOLINS MACHINE CO. Ltd. April 14, 1960 [April 17, 1959], No. 13191/59. Heading A2C. In a continuous rod cigarette-making machine, as described in Specification 953,861, at least some of the air from the airflow heated by a pump 23 is discharged from a cyclone 35, and the discharged air or a proportion thereof is conveyed to outside the building and there dissipated, or the discharged air is retained in the building, in dependence on the temperature of the ambient atmosphere. A flap valve 102, operated by a lever 106, controls the proportion of the discharged air passing into a duct 105 leading to a convenient point in the building and into a duct 103 leading to a point outside the building. The operation of the valve 102 may be made automatic, e.g. controlled by a relay device operated by a temperature sensing device. If a plurality of machines are used they are connected to a common exhaust manifold which in turn is connected to the ducts 103, 105.
