Abstract
1,153,830. Cereal dryer. T. SATAKE. 31 May, 1967 [10 June, 1966; 15 Aug., 1966; 22 Oct., 1966(3); 17 Nov., 1966; 14 Dec., 1966], No. 25100/67. Heading F4G. [Also in Division A2] A drying apparatus for cereals comprises an upper tempering chamber 1 connected at its lower end to one or more drying chambers 2 having perforate walls 2a through which a blast of hot air is directed from an adjacent fan 4, the cereals passing by gravity downwardly therethrough and being recirculated by rotating vanes 6, a conduit 7 and an elevating conveyer 3 to the upper end of the tempering chamber. Equalization of flow of cereals to the or each drying chamber is achieved by adjustable control devices 8, and the ar from the drying chamber or chambers is prevented from passing into the tempering chamber by exhaust ports 9 beneath the devices 8. Various modifications of the apparatus are described including a single drying chamber, stirring means in the tempering chamber, and vertical plates mounted in the tempering chamber to achieve uniform flow of cereals.
