Class 34(2) Apparatus for drying edible pastes &c. has a drying chamber 1 connected to a cooling compartment 2 and conveyers 3 to carry the material which enters at inlet 4 and is discharged by a device 5. Chamber 1 is horizontally subdivided by partitions 6 constructed as louvres or adjacently disposed flaps, Fig. 2, so that drying air entering at 8 and passing upwardly through the chamber may be controlled by operation of the flaps. Regulable suction openings 7 are mainly arranged above the last drying band 3.
