Abstract

781,154. Drying apparatus. ORTH, H., and HAAG, E. Dec. 29, 1955, No. 37324/55. Class 34(2) Wet material such as salt is dried in two stages, firstly in a chamber 1 having an airpermeable floor 2 with associated rotary agitator 3 and secondly in an inclined cylindrically-shaped chamber 8. Hot air is supplied to the chamber 1 through piping 6 and moisture-laden air discharged therefrom through piping 5. The material is preferably batch-charged through a hopper 4 and a gate-type valve 7 contacts the flow of material from chamber 1 to chamber 8. The floor 2 may comprise trays in the form of screens or sieves.
