March 13, 1952 [March 13, 1951], No. 6517/52 Class 34(1) and 34 (2) In apparatus for drying fabrics, rovings, loose fibrous material &c. in which the material 2 passes over perforated drums S' ... S' and heated air is passed from the outside to the inside of the drums to dry the material, the arrangement is such that the drying air passes through the material twice before being re-heated. The lower drums S<SP>1</SP>, S<SP>3</SP>, S<SP>5</SP> have covering plates 6, 7, 8 angularly adjustable and in the lateral space between the upper and lower drums are provided covering plates passing from a to b, c and like points to k, and the portions c, d, e and f, g, h form part of the suction pipes Z<SP>2</SP>, Z<SP>4</SP> by which the interiors of the drums S<SP>2</SP>, S<SP>4</SP> are connected to the lower part of the chamber, the lower drums having openings leading to fans V so that the drying air passes through the material on the upper drums, through the pipes Z<SP>2</SP>, Z<SP>4</SP> into the lower part of the chamber where it again passes through the material lying on drums S<SP>1</SP>, S', S<SP>5</SP> and is propelled by fans V over heaters H and back to the upper part of the chamber.
