Class 34(1) In the rotatable screen drier of the parent Specification a fan 9 or 3, Fig. 1, having a diameter at least 60% of the drum diameter is axially arranged at each end of the drum 2. The drying air is passed over heating tubes whilst being conducted along a closed path by the fans. In an arrangement of individually housed drums, the fibrous fleece being dried is loosened prior to entry into the last drum by passage over a drum 43, Fig. 2, and an apron conveyer 44. In a further arrangement, the drums are housed in pairs. This arrangement may be modified by the addition of a roller 48, Fig. 4, in the first housing which ensures that an initially. very wet fleece travels over the upper surfaces of two successive drums.
