Abstract
1,018,531. Sieve drum driers. FLEISSNER Ltd. Oct. 2, 1962 [Oct. 2, 1961], No. 37367/62. Heading F4G. In apparatus for drying wet textile material, the treatment medium impelled through a chamber containing sieve drums is so divided or guided that a large quantity of the medium first passes through the material at the entry side of the chamber and subsequently a smaller quantity passes through the material as the treatment progresses. Apparatus for drying combed sliver, or the like, comprises a sieve drum 1 about which the material passes to a take-off conveyer belt 13. The drum contains a single fan which blows air through the material at the delivery side of the drum at a substantially higher air speed than at the upper part of the chamber where the air flow passes twice through the material, viz. through the material on the conveyer and through the material on the drum. In other embodiments, the conveyer may be replaced by a take-off cooling drum, Fig. 8 (not shown), and wherein baffles may be radially positioned about the sieve drum to guide the air flow, or the radial baffles may be replaced by a spirally constructed casing, Fig. 7 (not shown). In the embodiment of Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown) two fans of different capacities and speeds achieve different air flows to different parts of the sieve drum.
