Abstract
940,088. Sieve drum driers. MASCHINENFABRIK FRIEDRICH HAAS G.m.b.H. Nov. 1, 1961, No. 39039/61. Heading F4G. [Also in Division D1] Textile treating apparatus includes at least one sieve drum dryer arranged to carry a relatively thin layer of material to be pre-dried and at least one associated conveyer belt arranged to receive the material and upon which the layer thickness is arranged to be greater than on the drum, and means for carbonizing the material whilst it is being carried by the conveyer. In the arrangement shown, fibrous material is fed from a shoot 5 on to a belt 2 which conveys the material to a first sieve drum dryer 3 from whence it passes to a second sieve drum dryer 4. A stripper 19 removes the material from drum 4 and the material falls on to conveyer belt 8. The speed of the conveyer 8 is such that the material falling thereon forms a layer which is much thicker than that on the dryer drums. The material on the conveyer 8 is brought up to a temperature at which carbonization can take place, by fans driven by motor 18, blowing hot air through the material.
