Abstract

1,110,457. Drying slurry. BELOIT CORPORATION. 23 Sept., 1965 [23 Nov., 1964], No. 40637/65. Heading F4G. In a method of drying a food slurry, the slurry is fed to nip between a pair of heated, contra-rotating drums 20, 21 so as to form a thin layer on each drum surface and heated air from sources S is supplied to separate drying hoods forming zones 29, 31, 32 and 33, 35, 36 along the peripheries of the drums 20, 21 respectively to heat each zone to a predetermined temperature to project the air through apertures on to the outer surface of the layers. Doctor blades 37, 38 remove the dried product either to vacuum removal devices 49, 50 or on to slide ways (not shown). The individual hoods may be hingedly mounted for movement away from the surface of the drums and essence recovery means is described.
