Abstract

1,133,869. Textile treating apparatus; drying. VEPA A.G. 6 June, 1966 [13 July, 1965], No. 25106/66. Heading F4G. [Also in Division D1] Apparatus for the heat treatment, e.g. drying, steaming, heat-setting of textile material comprises at least one sieve drum 5 subjected to suction over that portion conveying the material through a treatment chamber and adjacent each edge of the drum, at least one peripheral row of holding means holding the edges of the textile material for limited shrinkage thereof. The holding means may be mounted on a ring, one of which rings is axially displaceable. The displaceable ring may consist of ring segments which are independently movable and which may also be spaced from each other. The ring segments may be elastically connected. The holding means may be in the form of pins or clamps or a combination of endless bands and pins. The interior of the drum is preferably divided into several treatment zones subjected to varying suction. The textile material is preferably fed to the sieve drum with an overfeed in both width and length to permit limited shrinkage of the material.
