Abstract

1295353 Steam-treatment apparatus VEPA AG 13 March 1970 [24 March 1969 25 Oct 1969] 12142/70 Heading D1L A steam treating device consists of a treatment chamber 7 and a steam permeable conveyor belt 6. The material to be treated is fed into the chamber by a perforated conveyor belt 1, travelling at a higher speed than the conveyor belt 6, guided round sieve drum 2 which is subject to a suction draft. The section of the drum not covered by material is screened by baffle plate 3. The material then passes through plaiting nose 4 to form a rope, and plaited on the conveyer 6 transversely to the direction of material passage. The material passes through the treatment chamber 7 which is heated by means of coils 8, and the steam produced in the sump 12. The steam tight housing 7 is sealed by water sluice 10. In another embodiment shown in Fig. 3, circulation of the steam is achieved by means of the suction fan 16 and the rail 21. From the steam flow 19 produced by the fan, a certain amount of steam 22 is diverted by means of rail 21 projecting into the flow 19, and is guided towards the discharge end of the steamer; the movement of steam being shown by arrows 23.
