Abstract

978,646. Treating textiles. BRITISH NYLON SPINNERS Ltd. Dec. 18, 1963 [Jan.10, 1963], No. 1155/63. Heading D1L. A vessel 1 in which a running length of textile material 3 e.g. fabric, warp or yarn is continuously treated, e.g. with steam, at a pressure different from that outside the vessel, has an area of the vessel wall surrounding the inlet and outlet orifices 10, 11 covered, on the side under the higher pressure (i.e. the inside in the form shown) by an endless belt 4 urged thereagainst by the pressure and moved in the same direction and speed as the textile material which enters and leaves the vessel by passing between part of the vessel wall and part of the belt. In the form shown saturated steam under pressure is introduced through an inlet 6 into the vessel which is covered by lagging 2. If the pressure inside the vessel is less than that outside, the belts are arranged on the outside of the vessel. The belts 4 may be of natural rubber, artificial rubbers such as polychloroprene, polytetrafluoroethylene or nylon fabric impregnated with artificial resins.
