In apparatus for treating e.g. dyeing, bleaching or impregnating textile material such as a loose web 12 the material panes through a treatment chamber 1 containing e.g. steam or hot air and then through a bath 4, the outlet of the chamber 1 being positioned adjacent to the bath so that it is sealed by the liquid. In Fig. 1 forwarding rollers 8, 9 are provided in the outlet. In Fig. 2 (not shown), a roller and chute replace the rollers. Other conveying means at the outlet may comprise: a conveyer belt and roller; a conveyer belt and shoot; a suction roller and a co-operating roller. In Fig. 3, (not shown), a shaft dips into the bath; a roller or belts may be associated therewith. With co-operating guide means at least one member is resiliently urged towards the other. In Fig. 4, (not shown), the bath is partly inserted in the treatment chamber. In place of conveyers 2, 5 suction rollers may be provided.
