Abstract

1,022,989. Textile treating apparatus. SVENSKA FLAKTFABRIKEN A.B. Sept. 11, 1964 [Sept. 13, 1963], No.37320/64. Heading D1L. [Also in Division F4] A web of material to be heat treated in a housing 1 is guided in a plurality of reciprocating passes 5 between reversing rolls 6 by feeding the leading end of the web between two belts formed by separate endless bands 7... 12. The bands turn about stationary members 13,14,15, which members are so orientated and have air blown through perforated guide surfaces therein to deflect as to deflect the leading end of the web at A about the reversing roll 6 and recatch it at B. Thus the leading end is temporarily exposed without tension to the atmosphere in the treatment plant. Air distribution boxes 17 are mounted below the belts and have obliquely inclined perforations 18 to support and convey the web. The boxes 17 may be grooveshaped in cross-section or slightly arc-shaped in longitudinal section.
