Abstract

<PICT:0760058/IV(b)/1> Apparatus for scouring fibrous material such as wool comprises two reticulated conveyers 20, 21, Fig. 1, between which the fibre is carried through a bath. A frame 26 pierced with holes supports the conveyer 21 and is attached to a guide member 24 which with the conveyer belts may be vertically reciprocated by a rod 16 so that liquor is caused to penetrate the fibres in alternate directions. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the fibres are not continuously fed but are delivered in batches between the reciprocated conveyers, both conveyers being stopped when an untreated batch has been fed into the space between them.
