Abstract
896,883. Drying webs. FLEISSNER G.m.b.H. Nov. 18, 1958 [March 31, 1958], No. 37056/58. Class 34(1) In a combined drying and tentering machine webs 1 are fed along a guide means 30 to sieve drum driers 2, 3, 4 within an enclosure 40 by guide rollers 21 and guided out of the enclosure by rollers 22 to a tentering machine within a chamber 50 through which they are conveyed along a belt 27. The webs are threaded about the drums, which are perforated to allow for the exhaustion of a drying medium, e.g. air through the webs in an axial direction of the drums, interior covers 44, 45, 46 being located closely adjacent the peripheral portions of the drums to prevent flow of the medium into the drums where the webs are not in contact with the drums. The tentering chamber has hollow blower-equipped chambers 28, 29 above and below the belt for further drying. In further embodiments the drums are arranged on non-coplanar axes, have a further series of sieve drum driers after the tentering chamber and have drying and tentering means within one chamber.
