735,722. Confining dust generated by grinding wheels. LUKE & SPENCER, Ltd. Feb. 19, 1954 [Nov. 21, 1952], No. 29431/52. Class 8 (2). A suction cover 10 of a grinding wheel 11 has a partition 15 spaced from and following a portion of the wheel 11 so as to provide an outer suction duct 16 and an inner general suction duct 14a both connected by a duct 12 to a fan 13 and connected to each other by apertures (not shown) in the partition 15 and also by a local suction zone 18 where the partition 15 terminates short of an aperture 17 where the wheel 11 leaves the cover 10. The aperture 17 is controlled by a sliding plate 19 and wing nut 20. In a modification the suction duct is provided on one of the side walls of the cover and has one or more parts giving access to the interior of the cover. Specification 735,718 is referred to.
