Abstract

946,444. Drying grain &c. M. DLUGOBORSKI. Feb. 13, 1961 [Nov. 14, 1959], No. 38677/59. Heading F4G. A grain-drying apparatus comprises a chamber 6 housing rotatable concentric drums 1, 2 arranged with their side walls inclined in opposite directions to define a path for a heated gaseous medium which decreases from a combined gas inlet and grain outlet at the larger end of the outer drum to the grain inlet at the adjacent smaller end of the inner drum. The drums have lifters 4 and the dried material passes from the outer drum over a shaker conveyer 3 through which the heated gas passes on its way from a heater or furnace 5 to the gas inlet in the outer drum. A central shaft 11 of the drums is driven by means (not shown) via gearing 14 and driving shaft 15 which shaft also drives via a pulley 18 and belt 17 a fan 7 by which circulation of the heated gas is achieved through the drums. The grain is fed to the inner drum by a shoot 9 fed by an elevator in a hopper 10.
