Abstract

1,154,307. Endless conveyers. FRICK CO. 14 Feb., 1967 [21 Feb., 1966], No. 7021/67. Heading B8A. [Also in Division F4] Material is frozen on a continuous foraminous conveyer belt 9 which moves in a helical path around a perforated drum 10, air being circulated over an evaporator 13 and through the drum by fans 14. The conveyer belt 9 passes material from a loading conveyer 48 to an unloading conveyer 49 and during its helical passage around the drum 10 is supported in contact with drum wear strips 29 by a frame 32. The belt is driven by a motor 52 and has a tensioner 55 and the drum is rotated by a motor 58. The belt and drum may alternatively have a common drive means. A baffle 61 is provided with a sealing ring 67 contacting the top of the drum and guides air flow into the drum. The lower end of the drum is provided with a perforate or imperforate wall. Apparatus 50 is provided to form air curtains at the input and output of the apparatus. In other embodiments, Fig. 9-16 (not shown), the conveyer belt passes round two or three drums, and fans with associated evaporators may be provided in such a manner that the drums provide zones to different temperature.
