Abstract

284,175. Carrier Engineering Co., Ltd., and Groom, S. L. Oct. 12, 1927. Controlling ventilation; forced ventilation.- The air supplied to an enclosure is made up of fresh humidified or dehumidified air and return air from the enclosure in proportions controlled automatically according to the temperature or humidity conditions affecting the control which is positioned in the enclosure. A fan or blower 1 is adapted to deliver air through a duct 3, and the suction duct 6 is in communication with fresh air through a set of dampers 10 and with the recirculation opening or duct 7 through dampers 9. A thermostat 12 disposed in the enclosure 4 is adapted to control the dampers 9, 10 by means of a compressed air system 13 - - 18. The arrangement is such that as the dampers 9 open to permit the passage of more recirculation air, the dampers 10 close to restrict the passage of fresh air, and vice versa. The thermostat 12 may be replaced by a hygrostat, or in certain cases a thermostat and hygrostat may act jointly. A humidifying or cleansing device 11 may be arranged in the duct 6 on either side of the dampers 10 and if desired the air may also be heated. Specifications 133,897, 273,069; 276,214 and 276,221, [both in Class 64 (ii), Heating systems &c.], are referred to.
