664,764. Ventilation. STURTEVANT ENGINEERING CO.. Ltd.. and STEVENS. M. F. Feb. 16, 1950 [Feb. 21, 1949], No. 4669/49. Class 137. A method of preventing condensation of vapour on the ceiling of a room, e.g. a room in which there are paper-making machines comprises directing a stream of hot air from a heater 5 by a fan 6 across the undersurface of the ceiling 1 through a central opening 2 so that the ceiling is warmed to a temperature above the dew-point of vapour-laden air below the ceiling surface, air being withdrawn through openings 3 by a fan 7 and a proportion of the extracted air rejected to atmosphere. Under control of a humidistat 12 the remainder of the extracted air together with fresh air is recirculated after heating, the temperature being controlled by a thermostat 14. An audible or other alarm 13 may be provided to indicate when the relative humidity exceeds a pre-determined limit.
