Abstract

A corrosion resistant martensitic steel casting consists of:- .Cr.15-18% .Ni.3-5% .Cu.greater than 0.4-0.98% .C.0.03-0.07% .Mo.up to 0.3% .Nb.up to 0.2% .Mn.up to 1% .Si.up to 1% .S.up to 0.05% .P.up to 0.05% the balance, apart from impurities, being iron. The casting may be heat-treated as follows:- Solution annealed at 1000 DEG -1050 DEG C., air cooled, hardened at 450 DEG -47 DEG C.,air cooled tempered at 520 DEG -560 DEG C. followed by a final air cooling.
