Abstract

1,013,161. Loudspeakers. A. L. COEN. Jan. 21, 1963 [Jan. 29, 1962], No. 2592/63. Heading H4J. A transducer structure comprises a cupshaped yoke containing a coaxial permanent magnet and an annular polepiece fitted in its open end, the pot having inwardly extending means for retaining the polepiece and being outwardly deformable to retain the magnet in an aperture in a chassis. As shown, a moving coil loudspeaker comprises a pot 14 in which a permanent magnet 12 is located by a brass pressure ring 40. Annular polepiece 34 fits into the top of the pot and together with polepiece 50, made from the same stock as polepiece 34 and fixed to the top of the magnet 12 by plug 52, defines an air gap 54 in which the voicecoil is located. The structure is retained in an aperture in the diaphragm-supporting chassis 20 by deforming the lip 30 of the pot outwardly at intervals, as at 60, to clamp the edge 32 of chassis 20 against an external shoulder of the pot. The lip of the pot is also deformed inwardly, as at 58, to clamp polepiece 30 and edge 42 of pressure ring 40 against the internal shoulder 22 of the pot.
