Abstract

998,986. Loud-speakers. A. L. COEN. Aug. 30, 1962 [Sept. 6, 1961], No. 33327/62. Heading H4J. In a loud-speaker the magnet housing is secured to the frame by a coupling which permits separation and reconnection of the parts by a limited rotation. As shown, Fig. 5, the permanent magnet of a moving coil loud-speaker comprises a core 36 secured in a pot 16 by cementing or crimping the closed end 42 of pot 16. The open end 60 of pot 16 is inserted in a circular aperture 34 in the frame 14 of the loud-speaker. Four recesses 64 are provided in the edge of aperture 34, Fig. 8, and end 60 is staked between recesses 64 to form projections 64 which hold the pit 16 in place, frame 14 being gripped between shoulder 22 and projections 64. The rest of the loud-speaker is now assembled, the magnet magnetized and the assembly tested. If its operation is unsatisfactory, due to metal particles in the magnet air gap, the magnet is demagnetized and then removed from the frame by twisting it until projections 64 are aligned with recesses 62. The magnet is then cleaned and reassembled by inserting the projections 64 in the recesses 62 and rotating the magnet to its original position.
