Abstract
1,022,850. Moving coil instruments. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES LTD. Jan. 1, 1965 [Jan. 8, 1964], No. 63/65. Heading H4J. In a moving coil transducer the parts which define the air gap consist of sintered ferromagnetic material. A receiver for use in a telephone instrument has an annular magnet body 1 of Al-Ni-Co alloy or of ferrite. An annular polepiece plate 2 is glued to body 1 and has an annular stud 2a which locates a diaphragm carrier 4. A polepiece 3 has a platelike portion glued to the body 1 and a cylindrical portion fitting inside the body 1. Parts 2 and 3 are of sintered iron. Annular stud 2a reduces losses due to the fringe effects of magnetic lines of force. A resonant cavity 6 improves the frequency response and is formed by the polepiece 3, an air-tight cover plate 7 and a damping filter 8, as described in Specification 1,022,849.
