Abstract

1,007,105. Textile treating apparatus. HEBERLEIN & CO. A. G. Sept. 10,1964 [Sept. 8, 1963], No. 37129/6.4. Heading D1L. Apparatus for the treatment of filamentary or web-like materials with liquids or vapour comprises a drum 1 having a perforated jacket 2 upon which the materials are to be wound, being rigidly mounted on a hollow shaft 7, being rotatable about its axis and being divided by partitions 3 extending at right angles to its axis into a plurality of chambers 4, 5, 6, the shaft 7 being perforated at selected places so as to communicate only with the chambers 4, 6 and controllable conduits 9 being provided for the selective supply of fluid to the chambers 5. Walls 8, 8<SP>1</SP> seal the ends of the drum 1 in a fluidtight manner. The chambers 5 are arranged in pairs symmetrically with respect to the central chamber 6 and feed of fluid thereto is effected through four conduits 9 extending parallel to the drum axis and equally spaced therearound. The conduits 9 extend into a common chamber 4 over which the jacket 2 is not perforated and inside which the shaft 7 is perforated to permit entry of the fluid. The conduit ends 10 are each provided with an inlet valve 11 operable from outside the drum 1. The conduits 9 are closed at the other end and are each perforated where they pass through two chambers 5 each being approximately symmetrically disposed with respect to the chamber 6. During operation, the chamber 6 is constantly fed with fluid through the perforations in the shaft 7 whilst the chambers 5 can be fed with liquid dependent on the width and nature of the material to be treated by selectively opening the conduits 9 by the valves 11.
