Abstract

Textile material (e.g. yarn) is wound onto a pref. perforated cylinder mounted within an autoclave into which dye is pref. fed through an axial inlet duct on the axis of the autoclave. Internally of the cylinder a centre-body is mounted coaxially to define an annular passage between the outer surface of the centre body and the inner surface of the cylinder. Dye flows through this annular passage and permeates uniformly into the textile material wound around the perforated cylinder. The textile material is dyed uniformly since the fluid circulating within the annular passage flows at the same rate as the fluid flowing over the outside of the textile material. A reduced quantity of dye is required.
