Abstract

1,006,922. Finishing yarns. MOULINAGE ET RETORDERIE DE CHAVONOZ. March 5, 1964 [March 5,1963], No. 9380/64. Heading D1F. A travelling yarn is heated e.g. to set temporary twist therein during a false-twist crimping process, by passage through a tube 1 which is insulated by a casing 2 housing an electric heater element 3 and is connected (at its "upstream" end) to a chamber 4 for the admission of compressed air. A suction chamber 6, wherein fumes are extracted and the condensate is available for recovery or discharge, houses a fan (not shown) which inhales atmospheric air, together with fumes leaving the heater, through an orifice 7 and delivers it through an outlet 10. A calibrated, manually or electromagnetically-operated valve 8 in the discharge orifice (or in chamber 4) permits escape of excess air and regulates the flow of purified air (through duct 9) to the chamber. A single chamber may supply air to two or more heaters to which yarns pass separately through a corresponding number of origices, as at 5.
