936,381. Radiant heating units. HAZEN ENGINEERING CO. March 2, 1962 [July 7, 1961], No. 8177/62. Class 51(1). A radiant heating unit with a triple tube construction comprises an outer casing 1 with a flue outlet 7, an air duct 8 formed with longitudinally spaced perforations 20 and a fuel tube 17. The duct 8 which has a flared portion 10 and a flange 11 seating against sealing material 12 carried on a bracket 13 is held within the outer casing by spacers 16 and the fuel tube is carried within the perforated duct by spiders and has a small tubular portion 17a. The duct 8 has a deflector plate 21 and the perforations therein may be spaced to form a helix. The unit may be subject either to the suction of a fan connected to the flue outlet or the pressure of a blower connected to the inlet passage 15. Ignition is by means of a spark plug 18. The elliptical outer casing is fixed to the wall 2 by a clamping ring 3 incorporating sealing material 4.
