Abstract

Le matériau composite selon l'invention se distingue en ce qu'il comporte une matrice en aluminium, alliage d'aluminium ou alliage de magnésium avec des fibres continues de carbure de silicium contenant 0,01 à 40 % en poids de carbone libre, ce carbone libre réagissant avec l'aluminium ou un élément métallique ajouté au métal de la matrice afin de former des carbures, les fibres de carbure de silicium pouvant être revêtues d'un métal ou d'une matière céramique et la mouillabilité des fibres de carbure de silicium par rapport à la matrice étant élevée. Un tel matériau composite convient pour de nombreuses applications dans les industries électriques, aéronautiques, nucléaires et autres.
