Abstract
Procedimiento para reducir óxido de hierro en un horno de reducción directa, en donde el gas reductor caliente se introduce en el horno para reducir el óxido de hierro allí presente a un producto de hierro metalizado y para formar un gas reductor agotado conteniendo dióxido de carbono, caracterizado porque comprende las etapas: (a) separar una porción sustancial del dióxido de carbono de dicho gas reductor agotado para formar un gas rico en reductor; (b) gasificar combustible fósil para formar un gas de gasificador caliente; (c) templar dicho gas de gasificador caliente con una primera corriente de dicho gas rico en reductor para formar una mezcla gaseosa caliente; (d) reaccionar dicha mezcla gaseosa con un aceptor de azufre para formar un gas desulfurado caliente; (e) calentar una segunda corriente de dicho gas rico en reductor; y (f) mezclar dicha segunda corriente calentada de gas rico en reductor con gas desulfurado caliente para formar un gas reductor que tiene una calidad de al menos8 aproximadamente y una temperatura de 760 a 900ºC aproximadamente para su introducción en el citado horno.
