Abstract

Fuel briquettes are made by pressure-moulding a mixture of coal particles preheated to a temperature below their softening temperature (S.T.) and inert particles (e.g. low volatile fines, coke breeze or ores, preheated to a temperature above the S.T., the gases given off during the mixing being led into contact with the preheated, inert particles. The inert particles and the coal particles may be preheated in turn by a hot gas, e.g. as described in Specification 1,017,711, and the gas leaving the mixing stage is cooled and washed after contacting the inert particles.ALSO:Briquettes are made by pressure-moulding a mixture of coal particles preheated to a temperature below their softening temperature (S.T.) and ore particles preheated to a temperature above the S.T., the gases given off during the mixing being led into contact with the preheated, ore particles. The ore and coal particles may be preheated in turn by a hot gas, e.g. as described in Specification 1,017,711 and the gas leaving the mixing stage is cooled and washed after contacting the ore particles.
