Abstract
Un dispositivo electrocrómico complementario, que comprende: (a) un primer electrodo que comprende un material polimérico conductor de coloración catódica, comprendiendo el material polimérico conductor de coloración catódica un monómero 2,2-dibencil-3,4-propilendioxitiofeno sustituido o no sustituido, teniendo el material polimérico conductor de coloración catódica un potencial redox; (b) un segundo electrodo que comprende un material polimérico conductor de coloración anódica, teniendo el material polimérico conductor de coloración anódica un potencial redox que está adaptado al potencial redox del material polimérico conductor de coloración catódica; y (c) un electrolito dispuesto entre y en comunicación electroquímica con el primer electrodo y el segundo electrodo; en donde cuando dicho un material polimérico está completamente oxidado, el otro dicho material polimérico está completamente reducido.

Al proporcionar los dispositivos de polímero dual de la presente invención, los materiales poliméricos de coloración catódica y anódica pueden estar compuestos de homopolímeros. En realizaciones preferidas, al menos uno del material polimérico de coloración catódica y material polimérico de coloración anódica puede estar compuesto por un copolímero. Lo más preferiblemente, tanto los materiales poliméricos de coloración catódica como anódica están compuestos de copolímeros. Adicionalmente, se proporcionan métodos para ensamblar y preparar dispositivos electrocrómicos que pueden utilizar una disolución de deposición. La disolución de deposición utilizada en el dispositivo y los métodos expuestos puede comprender (A) (1) para depositar un polímero de coloración catódica, (i) un derivado de 2,2-bis(bencil)-3,4propilendioxitiofeno sustituido en posición para de al menos un grupo bencilo con un resto halo, sulfonilo, nitro o alquilo y, opcionalmente, (ii) 2,2-dibencil-3,4-propilendioxitiofeno; OR (2) para depositar un polímero de coloración anódica, monómeros de N,N'-difenilbencidina, difenilamina y/o 4-aminobifenilo; (b) una sal que contiene un contraión que finalmente se incorpora como el dopante en el polímero o copolímero depositado sobre un electrodo, y (c) un disolvente. La disolución de deposición puede obtenerse combinando un 2,2-bis(bencil)-3,4-propilendioxitiofeno sustituido en posición para de al menos un grupo bencilo con un resto halo, sulfonilo, nitro o alquilo y, opcionalmente, 2,2-dibencil-3,4-propilendioxitiofeno con una o más sales en un disolvente.
Las sales que pueden utilizarse en la disolución de deposición incluyen, pero no se limitan a Na+, Li+, Et4N+ como cationes y poli(sulfonato de vinilo), sulfato, trifluorometanosulfonato y poli(estirenosulfonato) como aniones. Los disolventes que se pueden utilizar incluyen, pero no se limitan a, acetonitrilo, N,N'-dimetilformamida (DMF), tetrahidrofurano (THF) y mezclas de los mismos. El polímero puede depositarse de la disolución de deposición sobre dicho sustrato conductor transparente utilizando un método de barrido de potencial múltiple, o un método de paso de potencial (potencial constante). Más preferiblemente, para los polímeros de coloración catódica, puede depositarse con un método de barrido potencial, siendo el potencial de aproximadamente 0,0 V a aproximadamente + 1,5 V.
Polímero de Coloración Catódica
El polímero de coloración catódica comprende derivados sustituidos y no sustituidos de poli(2,2-dibencil-3,4propilendioxitiofeno) ("DiBz-PProDOT"). En particular referencia a Dibencil-PProDOT sustituido, en una realización preferida, al menos un resto bencilo está sustituido con un grupo amino, nitro, halo, sulfonilo o alquilo (p. ej., propilo, isopropilo, n-butilo, isobutilo, n-pentilo, n-hexilo). Tal como se utiliza en esta memoria, "halo", puede definirse como comprendiendo sustituyentes fluoro, cloro, bromo y yodo. En una realización particularmente preferida, la posición para del grupo bencilo está sustituida.
En una realización preferida, los polímeros de coloración catódica exhiben un gran contraste electrocrómico y una compatibilidad electroquímica y electrocrómica con polímeros de coloración anódica. Polímeros de DiBz-PProDOT con sustituyentes dicloro u otros en la posición para de cada uno de los grupos bencilo, pueden exhibir una mejora muy significativa en las propiedades electrocrómicas sobre sus equivalentes dibencilo no sustituidos. En particular, con la sustitución en el grupo dibencilo, la absorción del polímero puede cambiar de manera que sea más amplia; adicionalmente, la longitud de onda de absorción más alta también puede desplazarse potencialmente más hacia el centro de la región espectral visible (aprox. 575 nm), y de nuevo, potencialmente, las tensiones de conmutación se pueden reducir ligeramente y volverse más simétricas. Otros cambios posibles de la sustitución en el grupo dibencilo podrían ser un aumento significativo en la absorción que conduce a un contraste mucho más alto de luz/oscuridad, y un desplazamiento en el potencial redox, que conduce, en potencia, a un emparejamiento mucho mejor con el polímero de coloración anódica tales como poli(aminas aromáticas) en un dispositivo de polímero dual. La producción de estos polímeros se consigue mediante electro-polimerización a partir del monómero dibencilo sustituido, de acuerdo con la práctica establecida de electrocromo de polímero conductor.
En otra realización particular, el polímero puede comprender un copolímero de derivados de poli(2,2-dibencil-3,4propilendioxitiofeno) sustituido en la posición para del resto bencilo. En realizaciones particularmente preferidas, los componentes monómeros pueden incluir 2,2-dibencil-3,4-propilendioxitiofeno, un derivado de 2,2-dibencil-3,4propilendioxitiofeno sustituido en la posición para del resto bencilo con un sustituyente cloro y, opcionalmente, un

Una composición polimérica de coloración catódica particular de la invención es un copolímero de los monómeros 2,2-dibencil-3,4-propilendioxitiofeno, 2,2-bis(4-cloro-bencil)-3,4-propilendioxitiofeno y 2,2-bis(4-bromo-bencil)-3,4propilendioxitiofeno, tomados en una relación molar de aproximadamente 1:1:1 a 50:1:1, que refleja la variación de la proporción del primer monómero, y de nuevo de 50:1:1 a 50:7:1 y 1:1:1 a 1:7:1, que refleja la variación de la proporción del segundo monómero. Se ve que el rendimiento electrocrómico de los dispositivos electrocrómicos que contienen estos sistemas de copolímero es superior al de los dispositivos que tienen sólo polímeros puros de estos monómeros. Más preferiblemente, la relación molar anterior es de 50:1:1 a 3:1:1. Más preferiblemente aún, la relación molar anterior es de 20:1:1 a 3:1:1. Lo más preferiblemente, la relación molar anterior es de aproximadamente 10:1:1.
Síntesis de Precursores de Monómeros de Polímeros de Coloración Catódica de Alto Rendimiento
Los monómeros utilizados, particularmente los derivados recogidos anteriormente, se pueden obtener proporcionando un 2,2-dibencil-1,3-propanodiol sustituido en la posición 4 (es decir, posición para) del grupo bencilo con el sustituyente deseado (tal como, pero no limitado al grupo halo, alquilo, sulfonilo o nitro). Se observa, además, que el 2,2-bis(bencil)-3,4-propilendioxitiofeno p-bromo-sustituido es particularmente valioso como un compuesto intermedio en la síntesis adicional de derivados monoméricos de 2,2-bis(bencil)-3,4-propilendioxitiofeno con otros sustituyentes en la posición p del grupo bencilo a través de técnicas químicas orgánicas sintéticas comunes conocidas por cualquier experto en la técnica. El 1,3-propanodiol puede obtenerse reduciendo un 2,2-dibencilmalonato sustituido en la posición 4 del grupo bencilo con el sustituyente deseado (tal como, pero no limitado al grupo halo, alquilo, sulfonilo o nitro). Ejemplos de diversos malonatos que se pueden utilizar y métodos de síntesis se recogen en el texto siguiente y en los EJEMPLOS.
El 2,2-bis (bencil) -1,3-propanodiol sustituido en la posición 4 del grupo bencilo con el sustituyente deseado (tal como, pero no limitado al grupo halo, sulfonilo o nitro) se hace reaccionar con 1,3-dimetoxitiofeno en una reacción de transesterificación facilitada, por ejemplo, por ácido p-toluenosulfónico para proporcionar el monómero, bis(4sustituido-bencil)-3,4-propilendioxitiofeno. Esta tarea de síntesis no es del todo trivial. Krishnamoorthy et al. sintetizaron dibencil-PProDOT utilizando una reacción de transesterificación entre 3,4-dimetoxi-tiofeno y 2,2-dibencil-propano-1,3-diol (como se ve en el esquema en la FIG.. 3). Este último, a su vez, se sintetizó partiendo de malonato de dietilo y haciéndolo reaccionar con cloruro de bencilo para proporcionar malonato de 2,2-dibencil-dietilo utilizando una base fuerte (etóxido de sodio en medio etanólico). El malonato de 2,2-dibencil-dietilo se redujo a su vez para proporcionar el 2,2-dibencil-propano-1,3-diol utilizando una reducción estándar de hidruro de litio-aluminio.
Mientras que el malonato de dietilo puede reaccionar de una manera directa con cloruro de bencilo, facilitado por el etóxido de sodio de base fuerte, no puede decirse lo mismo de los cloruros de bencilo p-sustituidos, p. ej., el cloruro de bencilo p-cloro-sustituido. De hecho, la reacción en medio de etóxido sódico falla, al igual que la reacción con otros medios de base comúnmente utilizados en síntesis orgánicas tales como trietil-amina y di-isopropiletilamina (véanse los EJEMPLOS COMPARATIVOS). Por lo tanto, parece que la disponibilidad de la posición para en los anillos de bencilo es necesaria para el éxito de esta reacción con bases orgánicas comunes, y cuando está bloqueada, la reacción falla. Otro objeto de la presente invención, por lo tanto, es la síntesis con éxito de los precursores requeridos para sintetizar los polímeros electrocrómicos dibencil-PPro-DOT p-dicloro-, p-dibromo y p-dinitro-sustituidos, específicamente, 2,2-bis(4-cloro-bencil)-1,3-propanodiol, 2,2-bis(4-bromo-bencil)-1,3-propanodiol y 2,2-bis(4nitrobencil)-1,3-propanodiol . Las síntesis típicas se describen en los EJEMPLOS 1, 5 y 6.
Síntesis del monómero, 2,2'-(bis-4-nitrobencil)-3,4-propilendioxitiofeno ("NO2-Bz-ProDOT"), es decir, el análogo nitrosustituido del monómero cloro-sustituido descrito anteriormente, se inicia con bromuro de 4-nitrobencilo e incluye una serie de etapas que implican el uso de grupos protectores tal como se describe con detalle en el EJEMPLO 6, que también hace referencia a los esquemas de reacción relevantes representados en las FIGURAS.

la deposición es 7.5 a 12.5 mC/cm2. Películas de polímero depositadas utilizando estos parámetros tienen una coloración azul-violeta, son extremadamente homogéneas y uniformes, y proporcionan un % T, a 575 nm (la longitud de onda aproximada de máxima absorción para este polímero) de 45% a 50%. Exhiben el rendimiento electrocrómico más óptimo en dispositivos, caracterizado por contraste claro/oscuro (Delta % T a 575 nm), tiempo de conmutación, ciclabilidad y durabilidad. Pueden utilizarse procedimientos similares para depositar un copolímero. Durante dicha deposición, el potencial es barrido de aproximadamente 0,0 V a +1,5 V (frente a la cuasi-referencia de Pt), una velocidad de exploración preferida es de 2 mV/s a 50 mV/s y un tamaño de paso de potencial preferido es de 1 mV a 10 mV. Una velocidad de exploración más preferida es de 10-20 mV/s, y un tamaño de paso de potencial más preferido está entre 2 y 4 mV; una carga total preferido es 11 a 19 mC/cm2 y un% T preferido de la película depositada a 575 nm es de 41% a 55%. Se obtienen películas poliméricas homogéneas y muy uniformes con una coloración azul oscuro/violeta. Una típica deposición electroquímica de este tipo se describe en el EJEMPLO 11. Sobre la base de principios establecidos de polimerización electroquímica de polímeros conductores (véase Chandrasekhar, 1999, Capítulos 13), y sin estar confinado a ninguna teoría particular de operación, es probable que la cadena polimérica en este copolímero contenga unidades aleatorias de los tres monómeros en las proporciones indicadas anteriormente (p. ej., 5:1:1) de tal manera que la conjugación extendida en la cadena polimérica tenga propiedades que correspondan a las contribuciones del sustituyente cloro fuertemente sustractor de electrones y el sustituyente amino fuertemente donante de electrones, junto con el monómero no sustituido "neutro". Adicionalmente, los sustituyentes más grandes (bencilo, cloro-bencilo, nitro-bencilo) imponen un mayor orden estructural (reflejado, p. ej., en menos reticulación) y, por lo tanto, mejoran adicionalmente la conjugación prolongada del polímero conductor resultante. Esta única conjugación extendida y única estereoquímica conducen a propiedades electrocrómicas mejoradas tal como se describe más adelante.
Dispositivo Electrocrómico, Incluyendo su Ensamblaje y Electrolitos
Los dispositivos electrocrómicos se ensamblan según el esquema de la FIG. 1. Ensamblajes típicos se describen en el EJEMPLO 14 y los EJEMPLOS COMPARATIVOS 15 -17.
Para el electrolito para los dispositivos se prefiere un electrolito en gel. En el EJEMPLO 14 se describe un procedimiento para la síntesis de un electrolito preferido, adaptado de electrolitos presentados en la técnica anterior. Un electrolito preferido utiliza un polímero tal como poli(metacrilato de metilo) (PMMA) o poli(metacrilato de etilo) (PEMA) como una matriz, sales apropiadas tales como trifluorometanosulfonato de Li (triflato de Li) y LiBF4, y plastificantes y/u otros agentes de solvatación tales como carbonato de propileno, que es un disolvente orgánico (típicamente utilizado en electrolitos de la batería de Li) con un muy alto p. e., 240°C. Una vez ajustado, el electrolito en gel se asemeja a un plástico cauchoide, duro pero flexible.
Tal como se ve en el esquema en la FIG.. 1, los componentes de los dispositivos electrocrómicos comprenden los dos electrodos de polímero conductor (con polímeros de coloración catódica y anódica, respectivamente), el electrolito y juntas para sellar y para contener el electrolito. El electrolito se aplica a ambos electrodos de polímero como una capa muy delgada utilizando una técnica de rasqueta. El ajuste durante la noche proporciona un dispositivo completo, que puede estar opcionalmente sellado con selladores de borde adicionales.
El EJEMPLO 14 describe en detalle el ensamblaje de un dispositivo de polímero dual típico. En este caso, el polímero de coloración catódica es un copolímero de 2,2-(bis-4-cloro-bencil)-3,4-propilendioxitiofeno, 2,2-(bis-4bromo-bencil)-3,4-propilenodioxitiofeno y 2,2-dibencil-3,4-propilendioxitiofeno, y el polímero de coloración anódica es un copolímero de N,N'-difenilbencidina, difenilamina y 4-amino-bifenilo. El EJEMPLO COMPARATIVO 15 describe el ensamblaje de un dispositivo electrocrómico de polímero dual que comprende poli(2,2-(bis-4-cloro-bencil)-3,4propilendioxitiofeno) ("poli(Cl-Bz-ProDOT)") como el polímero de coloración catódica y un copolímero de N,N'difenilbencidina, difenilamina y 4-amino-bifenilo como el polímero de coloración anódica. El EJEMPLO COMPARATIVO 16 describe el ensamblaje de un dispositivo electrocrómico de polímero dual que comprende el polímero de la técnica anterior, poli(isotianafteno) (PITN), como el polímero de coloración catódica y un copolímero de N,N'-difenilbencidina, difenilamina y 4-amino-bifenilo como el polímero de coloración anódica. El EJEMPLO COMPARATIVO 17 describe el ensamblaje de un dispositivo electrocrómico de un único polímero que comprende poli(N,N'-difenilbencidina) como el polímero de coloración anódica.
Rendimiento Electrocromático de Polímero Dual y Polímero Único, Incluyendo Dispositivos de Copolímero
Un polímero de coloración catódica conocido, poli(isotianafteno) (PITN), sirve como una referencia útil y un referente en la comparación de dispositivos de polímero dual. Los potenciales redox de este polímero, PITN, están algo mal emparejados con los de virtualmente todos los polímeros de coloración anódica, y particularmente mal emparejados

transmisiones de estado oscuro y de luz (% T) de un dispositivo son 8% y 60%, respectivamente (a 575 nm), entonces con un ajuste apropiado de la carga total durante la deposición de los polímeros, es decir, su espesor, el % T del estado de oscuridad y luz puede ser desplazado, p. ej., a 2% y 54%, de una manera casi lineal. Esto se ve en los datos de luz/oscuridad en la FIG. 15. En esta figura, aunque el estado oscuro muestra un % T de aproximadamente 0% en aproximadamente la región de 550 nm a 630 nm, es importante observar que esto es algo engañoso en términos de visibilidad a través de un dispositivo de este tipo. Este dispositivo apenas aparece tintado, y todavía se ve fácilmente a través; no hay impedimento alguno a la visibilidad, debido al hecho de que existe una transmisión significativa en las otras longitudes de onda visibles. Con respecto a determinadas realizaciones específicas de la presente invención, la presente invención abarca ventanas, espejos, pantallas planas, viseras, gafas y camuflaje, que comprenden los dispositivos electrocrómicos complementarios de la presente invención.

Síntesis Típica de Monómero, 2,2-(bis-4-clorobencil)-3,4-propilendioxitiofeno ("3,3-Bis(4-clorobencil)-3,4dihidro-2H-tieno[3,4-b][1,4]-dioxepina”) (“Cl-Bz-ProDOT”)
- a.
- Síntesis del compuesto intermedio inicial bis(4-cloro-bencil)malonato de dietilo (Esquema, Fig. 4): La síntesis se llevó a cabo bajo atmósfera inerte con gas argón seco utilizando un aparato de globo. A un matraz de fondo redondo de 250 mL se añadieron 11,2 g (0,0545 moles) de bromuro de 4-clorobencilo, 17,0 g (0,123 moles) de carbonato de potasio y 100 mL de DMF anhidra. La boca del matraz se cerró con un tabique de caucho y el matraz se purgó con Ar. Se llenó un aparato de globo/aguja de caucho con Ar y se insertó en el tabique. Después de unir el globo, se introdujeron 3,3 mL (0,022 moles) de malonato de dietilo a través de una jeringa y el matraz se calentó a 100ºC durante 16 h. El matraz se enfrió a temperatura ambiente y la mezcla de reacción se vertió en 200 mL de agua. El producto se extrajo con dietil-éter. La capa de éter se lavó tres veces con 100 mL de agua y una vez con 100 mL de salmuera. La capa de éter se secó con MgSO4 y se filtró. El disolvente se separó en vacío. El residuo se recristalizó en hexanos para dar 2,87 g (32%). La identidad de los productos intermedios y productos se confirmó por medio de TLC y RMN (de protón, 13C).

- Síntesis alternativa del compuesto intermedio inicial, bis(4-cloro-bencil)malonato de dietilo (Esquema, Fig. 4): La síntesis se llevó a cabo bajo atmósfera inerte con gas argón seco utilizando un aparato de globo. A un matraz de fondo redondo de 250 mL se añadieron 8,8 mL (0,0746 moles) de cloruro de 4-clorobencilo, 17,0 g (0,123 moles) de carbonato de potasio, 0,59 g de triflato de tetrabutilamonio (0,00150 moles) y 80 mL de tolueno anhidro. La mezcla se calentó a reflujo durante 16 h. La disolución se enfrió a temperatura ambiente. Las sales insolubles se filtraron y se lavaron a fondo con diclorometano. Los disolventes se separaron en vacío. La cromatografía en columna se realizó sobre el residuo con una columna de gel de sílice (25 cm x 2,5 cm) utilizando un gradiente de hexanos puros a 20% (v/v) de diclorometano en hexanos como eluyente. Se obtuvieron 3,3 g (11%) del material deseado. La identidad de productos intermedios y productos se confirmó por TLC y RMN (de protón, 13C).

- Reducción de bis-(4-clorobencil)malonato de dietilo a 2,2-bis(4-cloro-bencil)-1,3-propandiol (Esquema, Fig. 4): A un matraz de fondo redondo de tres bocas de 250 mL se le añadieron 1,92 g (50,5 mmol) de hidruro de litio y aluminio. El matraz se purgó con Ar y se enfrió a 0ºC. Al matraz se añadieron 20 mL de THF anhidro. A este matraz se añadieron 3,3 g (8,06 mmol) de bis(4-clorobencil)malonato de dietilo disueltos en 15 mL de THF. La adición se hizo lentamente a través de una jeringa aproximadamente a un ritmo de adición gota a gota. La mezcla se agitó durante una noche. Después de agitar, la mezcla se enfrió a 0ºC y se añadieron muy lentamente 1,92 mL de agua desionizada. Después de esta adición, se añadieron 1,92 mL de hidróxido de sodio al 15% y luego 5,76 mL de agua desionizada. La mezcla se agitó durante 1 h. El sólido se separó por filtración y se lavó a fondo con dietil-éter. El disolvente se separó en vacío. La cromatografía en columna se realizó sobre el residuo con una columna de gel de sílice (25 cm x 2,5 cm) utilizando un gradiente de hexanos puros a acetato de etilo al 60% (v/v) en hexanos como eluyente. La boca del matraz se cerró con un tabique de caucho y el matraz se purgó con Ar.

Se llenó un aparato de globo/aguja de caucho con Ar y se insertó en el tabique. Al matraz se añadieron 15 mL (30 mmol) de LiBH4 2,0 M. El matraz se calentó a 50ºC durante la noche. A continuación, se enfrió a 0°C y se añadieron lentamente al matraz 12 mL de una disolución saturada de (NH4)2SO4. La disolución se vertió después en un embudo de decantación de 250 mL y el producto se extrajo con acetato de etilo. La capa orgánica se lavó dos veces con 100 mL de agua y una vez con salmuera. Reacción de 2,2-bis(4-cloro-bencil)-1,3-propanodiol con 3,4-dimetoxitiofeno para producir el monómero final 2,2-(bis-4-clorobencil)-3,4-propilendioxitiofeno ((“3,3-bis(4-clorobencil)-3,4-dihidro-2H-tieno[3,4-b][1,4]dioxepina” "Cl-Bz-ProDOT") (Esquema Fig. 4 ): A un matraz de fondo redondo de 500 mL se añadieron 1,65 g (5,07 mmol) de 2,2-bis(4-clorobencil)-1,3-propanodiol, 0,200 g (1,05 mmol) de ácido p-toluenosulfónico monohidratado y 100 ml de tolueno. La boca del matraz se cerró con un tabique de caucho y el matraz se purgó con N₂. Se llenó un aparato de globo/aguja de caucho con N₂ y se insertó en el tabique. A la mezcla se añadieron 0,49 mL (4,11 mmol) de 3,4-dimetoxitiofeno y el matraz se calentó a 80ºC durante 1 d (~ 17 h). El matraz se enfrió a temperatura ambiente y el disolvente se separó en vacío. La cromatografía en columna se realizó sobre el residuo con una columna de gel de sílice (25 cm x 2,5 cm) utilizando un gradiente de hexanos puros a 30% (v/v) de diclorometano en hexanos como eluyente. Se obtuvieron 1,03 g (50%) del material deseado. IR, 1H-RMN, 13C-RMN además de TLC se utilizaron para confirmar la identidad del producto.

La síntesis de bis(4-cloro-bencil)malonato de dietilo se llevó a cabo de una manera sustancialmente idéntica a la descrita en el EJEMPLO 1, Etapa a. anterior, excepto que la molaridad proporcional de trietilamina se sustituyó por K₂CO₃. Se observó que la reacción era extremadamente lenta y no se obtuvo ningún producto a lo largo de un periodo de 72 horas.
EJEMPLO COMPARATIVO Síntesis Alternativas de Monómero, 2,2-(bis-4-clorobencil)-3,4-propilendioxitiofeno ("Cl-Bz-ProDOT")
La síntesis de bis(4-cloro-bencil)malonato de dietilo se llevó a cabo de una manera sustancialmente idéntica a la descrita en el EJEMPLO 1, Etapa a. anterior, excepto que la molaridad proporcional de di-isopropil-etil-amina fue sustituido por el K2CO3. Se observó que la reacción era extremadamente lenta y no se obtuvo ningún producto a lo largo de un periodo de 72 horas.

La síntesis de bis(4-cloro-bencil)malonato de dietilo se llevó a cabo de una manera sustancialmente idéntica a la descrita en el Ejemplo 1, Etapa a. anterior, excepto que la cantidad molar proporcional de disolución 0,9 M de etóxido de Na en etanol se sustituyó por K₂CO₃. No se observó reacción y no se obtuvo ningún producto a lo largo de un período de 72 horas.

Síntesis del compuesto intermedio inicial, bis(4-bromo-bencil)malonato de dietilo (Esquema, Fig. 5): A un matraz de fondo redondo de 250 mL se añadieron 8,63 g (0,0345 moles) de bromuro de 4-bromobencilo, 17,0 g (0,123 moles) de carbonato de potasio y 100 ml de DMF anhidra. La boca del matraz se cerró con un tabique de caucho y el matraz se purgó con Ar. Se llenó un aparato de globo/aguja de caucho con Ar y se insertó en el tabique. Después de fijar el globo, se introdujeron 2,2 mL (0,014 moles) de malonato de dietilo a través de una jeringa y el matraz se calentó a 100ºC durante 16 h. - Reacción de 2,2-bis(4-bromo-bencil)-1,3-propanodiol con 3,4-dimetoxitiofeno para producir el monómero final, 2,2-(bis-4-bromobencil)-3,4-propilendioxitiofeno ((“3,3-bis(4-bromobencil)-3,4-dihidro-2H-tieno[3,4b][1,4]dioxepina” "Br-Bz-ProDOT") (Esquema, Fig. 5): A un matraz de fondo redondo de 200 mL se añadieron 1,00 g (2,41 mmol) de 2,2-bis(4-bromobencil)-1,3-propanodiol, 0,1 g (0,5 mmol) de ácido p-toluenosulfónico monohidrato y 30 mL de tolueno. La boca del matraz se cerró con un tabique de caucho y el matraz se purgó con N₂. Se llenó un aparato de globo/aguja de caucho con N₂ y se insertó en el tabique. A la mezcla se añadieron 0,34 mL (2,85 mmol) de 3,4-dimetoxitiofeno y el matraz se calentó a 80ºC durante 1 d (17 h). El matraz se enfrió a temperatura ambiente y el disolvente se separó en vacío. La cromatografía en columna se realizó sobre el residuo con una columna de gel de sílice (25 cm x 2,5 cm) utilizando un gradiente de hexanos puros al 30% (v/v) de diclorometano en hexanos como eluyente. Se obtuvieron 0,153 g (13%) del material deseado. IR, 1H-RMN, 13C-RMN además de TLC se utilizaron para confirmar la identidad del producto.
Es importante observar que el monómero derivado bromo-sustituido proporciona una ruta muy fácil a monómeros sustituidos con sustituyentes alquilo y otros.
EJEMPLO 6
Síntesis Típica de Monómero, 2,2-(bis-4-nitrobencil)-3,4-propilendioxitiofeno ("3,3-Bis(4-nitrobencil)-3,4dihidro-2H-tieno[3,4-b][1,4]-dioxepina) ("Nitro-Bz-ProDOT")
- a.
- Síntesis del compuesto intermedio 2,2-dimetil-5,5-di(4-nitrobencil)-1,3-dioxano-4,6-diona intermedio (Véase el Esquema, Fig. 6). Una adaptación del procedimiento de Fillion et al. (2005). A un matraz de fondo redondo de 1 L se añadieron 11,23 g (0,0520 moles) de bromuro de 4-nitrobencilo, 3,0 g (0,0208 moles) de 2,2dimetil-1,3-dioxano-4,6-diona (ácido de Meldrum), 9,5 g (0,0687 moles) de carbonato de potasio y 150 mL de DMF. Esta mezcla se agitó durante 12 h y luego se añadieron 700 mL de agua al matraz de fondo redondo. El precipitado resultante se recogió y se lavó con agua. Este precipitado se recristalizó en una mezcla de metanol/diclorometano para dar 7,39 g (86%). IR, 1H-RMN, 13C-RMN además de TLC se utilizaron para confirmar la identidad del producto.

- Síntesis del compuesto intermedio ácido 2,2-bis(4-nitrobencil)malónico (Véase el Esquema, Fig. 6): Se siguió una adaptación del procedimiento descrito por Tiefenbacher y Rebek (2012). A una suspensión de 5,33 g (12,9 mmol) de 2,2-dimetil-5,5-di(4-nitrobencil)-1,3-dioxano-4,6-diona en 60 mL de una mezcla 9:1 de THF a agua se añadieron 1,11 g (46,3 mmol) de LiOH. Esta suspensión se agitó durante ~ 17 h. Después de agitar, se añadieron 100 mL de agua a la suspensión. La disolución acuosa se lavó dos veces con 50 mL de dietil-éter. A continuación, la disolución acuosa se acidificó a pH = 1. El producto se extrajo con acetato de etilo. La disolución de acetato de etilo se lavó una vez con 100 mL de agua y una vez con 100 mL de salmuera. La disolución de acetato de etilo se secó con MgSO4 y el disolvente se separó en vacío para dar 4,21 g (87%) del material deseado. IR, 1H-RMN, 13C-RMN además de TLC se utilizaron para confirmar la identidad del producto.

Al matraz de fondo redondo de 500 mL se añadieron 67 mL (67 mmol) de una disolución 1,0 M de BH₃en THF. El tabique en el matraz de fondo redondo se reemplazó por un embudo de adición de 125 mL y un tabique se insertó en la parte superior del embudo de adición.
