PARA LA ELABORACION DE PIEZAS DE FUNDICION A PARTIR DE HIERRO FUNDIDO CON GRAFITO EN LAMINAS, EL CONTENIDO EN CARBON DEL HIERRO FUNDIDO PUEDE SER AJUSTADO APROXIMADAMENTE ENTRE EL 3 Y 4 % MEDIANTE CONTROL DEL PROCESO DE FUNDICION A TRAVES DEL TIPO Y/O OPERACION DEL HORNO DE FUNDICION. LA MASA FUNDIDA ES ENTONCES VERTIDA EN MOLDES DE ARENA O APLICADA SEGUN PROCEDIMIENTO DE MOLDE PERDIDO. DURANTE EL ENFRIAMIENTO CONVENCIONAL, SE AJUSTAN LAS CONOCIDAS PROPIEDADES MECANICAS DE LA FUNDICION OBTENIDA. DE ACUERDO CON LA INVENCION, PARA MEJORAR ESTAS PROPIEDADES MECANICAS EN TERMINOS DE DUREZA Y DE RESISTENCIA, LA FUNDICION ES LIBERADA A PARTIR DE SU MOLDE A UNA TEMPERATURA QUE ALCANZA DESDE 1.100 °C HASTA 800 °C Y SOMETIDA INMEDIATAMENTE A TRATAMIENTO DE ENFRIAMIENTO, SIENDO SOPLADA CON UN FLUJO DE AIRE A FIN DE ENFRIARLA HASTA POR DEBAJO DE 723 °C EN UNA CANTIDAD DADA DE TIEMPO. LA FUNDICION, EN REGIONES SELECCIONADAS, SE ENFRIA POR DEBAJO DE 723 °C MEDIANTE GENERACION DE SOPLADOS INTERMITENTES ESPECIFICOS DE AIRE EN UNA CANTIDAD RELATIVAMENTE CORTA DE TIEMPO A FIN DE PRODUCIR UNA ESTRUCTURA MAS DURA.
