Abstract

Articles made of cast iron alloys containing about 3 per cent of carbon, up to about 6 per cent of nickel, and up to about 2 per cent of chromium, are heated throughout to about 680 DEG C., cooled, machined if necessary, reheated to 780-820 DEG C. and cooled in air. An alloy containing 3 per cent of carbon, 1,8 per cent of silicon, 0,06 per cent of sulphur, 0,09 per cent of phosphorus, 1 per cent of manganese, 4,5 per cent of nickel, and 1,75 per cent of chromium, described in Specification 342,335, is referred to.
