Claims (20)
- Printing unit of a rotary printing machine, comprising a transfer cylinder (02; 07) having a channel (14; 16; 17; 18) for receiving a cover (09), a plate cylinder (03; 08), arranged in a cooperating manner with the transfer cylinder (02; 07) as a pair of cylinders (01; 06), and a cylinder cooperating with the transfer cylinder (02; 07) via a substrate to be printed (04), the bodies of the transfer cylinder (02; 07) and of the plate cylinder (03; 08) being formed with a triple width and each having a width which approximately corresponds to six horizontal or vertical newspaper pages, characterised in that the cover (09) extends over the entire length of the body of the transfer cylinder (02), the cover (09) on the transfer cylinder (02; 07) being realised as a multilayer blanket (09) including a support layer (21) and a layer (22) connected to the support layer (21), in that the plate cylinder (03; 08) cooperating with the transfer cylinder (02; 07) includes two channels (12; 13), which are offset from each other by approximately 180° in the peripheral direction, for receiving one or more media (11), and in that each of the two channels (12; 13) of the plate cylinder (03; 08) extends over almost the entire length of a body of the plate cylinder (03; 08) up to the end face or up to an endface edge.

- The printing unit according to claim 1, wherein the ratio of the circumference of the transfer cylinder (02; 07) to that of the plate cylinder (03; 08) is integer.
- The printing unit according to claim 6, wherein the plate cylinder (03; 08) and the transfer cylinder (02; 07) have the same circumference.
- The printing unit according to claim 1, wherein the body of the transfer cylinder (02; 07) has a circumference which corresponds to at least two horizontal or vertical newspaper pages.
- The printing unit according to claim 1, wherein the body of the plate cylinder (03; 08) has a circumference which corresponds to at least two horizontal or vertical newspaper pages.
- The printing unit according to claim 1, wherein the channel (14; 16; 17; 18) of the transfer cylinder (02; 07) includes, in the area of the outer surface, a gap (29) having a width (b29) in the peripheral direction which is larger than twice the thickness of one of the ends (23; 24) of the cover (09) and is less than or equal to 3 mm.
- The printing unit according to claim 1, wherein a channel (12; 13) of the plate cylinder (03; 08) has, in the area of the outer surface, a width (b12) in the peripheral direction which is larger than twice the thickness of a medium (11) and is less than or equal to 3 mm.
- The printing unit according to claim 1, wherein the ends of the media (11) are arranged to be aligned along the length of the plate cylinder (03; 08).

- The printing unit according to claim 1, wherein the channel (14; 16; 17; 18) of the transfer cylinder (02; 07) includes at least one holding device (26), which is preferably driven by an elastic force.
- The printing unit according to claim 1, wherein a channel (12; 13) of the plate cylinder (03; 08) includes at least one holding device (33), which is preferably driven by an elastic force.
