Abstract

 DCノイズの増大、熱安定性の劣化、記録能力の劣化を起こさずに、高密度記録時のS/N比を向上させることにより高記録密度化に資することができる垂直磁気記録ディスク及びその製造方法を提供する。  基板1上に少なくとも磁気記録層を備え、垂直磁気記録に用いる磁気ディスク10であって、磁気記録層は、コバルト(Co)を含有する結晶粒子の間に珪素(Si)もしくは珪素(Si)の酸化物を含むグラニュラー構造の強磁性層5と、コバルト(Co)またはCo合金を含む第1層とパラジウム(Pd)または白金(Pt)を含む第2層との積層7と、強磁性層5と積層7との間に有するスペーサ層6とから構成されている。基板1上に強磁性層5をアルゴンガス雰囲気中でスパッタリング成膜した後、積層7をアルゴンガス雰囲気中において強磁性層5成膜時のガス圧よりも低いガス圧でスパッタリング成膜する。
