Definitions
- the invention relates to a hard core shell projectile with flare and a method for its preparation.
- Tracer bullets are bullets that contain a set of flares that is ignited on launch, allowing it to track the trajectory of the projectiles due to its burnup. Especially during nighttime shooting, tracer bullets make it easier to track the target and sight.
- the flare is located in a arranged in the longitudinal axis of the projectile bore in the projectile core. If the projectile is a mantle projectile, the mantle in the rear of the projectile must be open in the area of the opening of the bore. In this case, the opening must be designed so that the resulting gas during combustion of the flare gas can not get between the shell and core and ruptured by the resulting gas pressure of the mantle or even separated from the core. Damage to the mantle or gas slippage negatively affect the trajectory of the projectile and lead to misses.
- the object of the present invention is to ensure a gastight seal between the shell and the core in the case of a hard core shell projectile with flare in the region of the opening of the hole for the flare.
- the object is achieved according to the invention in that after pulling the shell on the core of the jacket in the rear of the projectile, the bottom of the shell, in the center of the opening of the hole for the flare is pierced by means of a provided with a conical tip punch and when immersing of the punch in the bore of the shell material is pressed uniformly against the wall of the hole. The jacket is therefore not just bent over the edge of the hole.
- the process is similar to reshaping.
- the material of the lying in the rear of the sleeve Soil, which is thicker than the mantle, is pushed into the bore by means of the punch, so that the drawing or forming process begins and the strength of the extending into the bore bottom significantly reduced, the opening to the bore is formed.
- the diameter of the punch for the production of the opening is adapted to the wall thickness, which must have the pressed against the wall of the bore material of the shell to withstand the expected gas pressure and not be infiltrated by the gas.
- the wall thickness of the pressed against the wall of the bore material is between 0.1 mm and 1.5 mm, depending on the occurring gas pressure, which may be about 3500 bar to 4000 bar.
- the hard core shell 1 comprises a core 2, which is enclosed in its cylindrical, the leadership of the projectile in the barrel serving part 3 of a jacket 4.
- a flare 7 which is preceded by an ignition charge 9 in the direction of the rear 8 of the projectile 1.
- the opening 10 to the bore 6 in the bottom 11 of the shell 4 is closed by a cover 12.
- the bore 6 is stepped.
- the area 13 of the bore 6 in the rear 8 of the hard core, in which the material of the bottom 11 is pressed in, has a diameter 14 which is widened by approximately the wall thickness of the displaced material 15.
- the opening 10 has the same diameter 16 as the bore 6, whereby the pressing of the flare 7 and the ignition charge 9 is facilitated.
- the hard core shell projectile with flare invention is easy to produce.
- the tightness between the shell and core in the opening to the hole for the flare is achieved without soldering, solely by the interference fit of the displaced to the wall of the bore material of the soil during the piercing of the hole in the ground by means of a similar processing forming step.
- the method of making the opening in the bottom of the shell shell is applicable to all calibers.
