Definitions
- the invention relates to a hollow point projectile, which has a recess projecting towards the projectile nose with angular cross-section, according to claim 1.
- the term “cylindrical” in the generality only means that all straight generatrix of the bore are parallel to each other.
- “Circular Cylinder” is a cylinder with a circular cross-section.
- Such a projectile is from the WO 93/07 438 A1 known.
- This projectile is a hollow point projectile; the hole in this projectile opens at its tip and has a square cross-section throughout.
- the DE 22 28 733 A1 shows a Hohlspitzgeschoß with a bore having angular cross-section, is larger than the bore of the aforementioned document and provided with a filling of lead or plastic.
- the US 51 31 123 A1 relates to a projectile, which is initially circular cylindrical, in the top of a wedge is then pressed with angular cross-section and in which then, after removal of the wedge, the tip is formed by pressing, so that a coaxial inner bore of angular cross-section is formed, the upward almost closed again shortly before the top.
- the US 52 59 320 A1 is extremely similar to the aforementioned document and also uses the same drawing, but was later filed and is directed primarily to the intermediate product that results from the production of the projectile.
- Hollow point projectiles have been known for a very long time. They combine the advantages of the small-caliber mantle projectile, such as the extended trajectory, with those of the large-caliber projectile, such as the release of kinetic energy to a hit target.
- the small-caliber mantle projectile such as the extended trajectory
- those of the large-caliber projectile such as the release of kinetic energy to a hit target.
- one forms a two-part projectile whose with a hollow tip front part is to disassemble in the hit game body, while the massive rear part ensures a committee and thus for blood loss of the game. Traces of this blood may allow the search with a dog.
- Such a projectile is mentioned in the beginning DE 22 28 733 described.
- the disadvantage is the large venison, especially when a bone has been hit and large parts of the game body are interspersed with splinters of the front bullet.
- the bullet should have a sufficient stopping power, but continue its flight as little as possible beyond the hit body. Structural destruction should be low; In particular, a projectile that strikes a wall, for example, should not penetrate it to avoid causing damage in rooms that the shooter can not see. Therefore, one uses in the police in addition to large caliber pistols usually large caliber submachine guns.
- Modern rifle cartridges for military rifles o. The like. Are very small caliber (about 4.5 to 5.5 mm). This has the advantage, inter alia, that the fast and light projectiles in the initial area (less than about 200 m) have hardly any height differences in the breakpoint. Even one Sniper does not have to worry about this much when a target moves back and forth a few feet.
- the object of the invention is therefore to find a rifle bullet whose ballistics the corresponding Vollmantelgeschoß at least largely corresponds, but which is able to deliver when penetrating a living body considerably more of its kinetic energy to this body, as it can the corresponding conventional gun bullet.
- the destructive effect must not be greater than with a bullet from a police pistol.
- the projectile according to the invention has clear advantages over previous hollow point bullets: in the latter, the mouth is widened and forms flags of projectile material, which break off in whole or in pieces, to provide the rest of the projectile for the Committee.
- the recess with circular cylindrical cross-section which is attached to the recess with angular cross-section, ensures a smooth, soft transition in the deformation of the projectile, so that the projectile is indeed flags, but these remain on the floor.
- the projectile can increase its cross-section after its impact, up to four times. But it remains a uniform projectile. If it should be necessary to surgically remove the bullet from a struck person, this is quite possible.
- the projectile according to the invention may optionally even be dimensioned for special operations in such a way that it divides walls u. Like. Not usually Deutschen Republic.
- the rear part of the projectile which ensures reliable penetration in all previous hollow point projectiles, always remains on the widened front parts and is braked so hard.
- the destructive effect which is a characteristic of previous hollow point projectiles, is relatively low and corresponds approximately to that of a revolver projectile.
- the recess with circular cylindrical cross section continues with angular cross section. Their effect is further improved if the recess with circular cylindrical cross-section has a slightly smaller diameter than it is the smallest diameter of the recess with angular cross-section (claim 2).
- the paragraph between the two recesses interrupts the tearing of the flags, and the fact that this paragraph is quite small, additionally brakes the tearing soft.
- the deformation of the projectile nose can be controlled by the number of edges on the cross section. This also applies to the choice of projectile material and caliber. Ideally, the recess is edged Cross-section formed as a square socket (claim 3). The edges are therefore separated from each other by 90 ° along the inner circumference. With such a design, the advantages described above emerge particularly clearly and unadulterated. With less than 4 edges on the cross-section deformation is difficult, with more than 4 edges it is easier.
- the recess with circular cylindrical cross section is about half as long as that with angular cross section (claim 5).
- the recess with angular cross-section extends only over the length of the projectile nose before the bullet has caliber size (claim 6). In this case, a slight tearing of the projectile nose is achieved, but continuously more difficult until the beginning of the recess with a circular cylindrical cross-section has a mild outlet of the tears result.
- the invention is applicable to projectiles of all kinds; but the special need and effect and the particular benefit of the invention is achieved when the bullet caliber is about 4.6 mm (claim 9).
- the projectile is therefore significantly smaller in diameter than all known police bullets, but is widened after hitting a caliber of about 9 mm, without shrapnel peel off.
- an optimally stretched trajectory is achieved at relatively low muzzle energy.
- the distance between two opposite sides of the angular cross section is about 1.5 mm (claim 10) and that the diameter of the recess with circular cylindrical cross-section about 1 , 3 mm.
- the recesses are filled in Hohlspitzgeunteren or at least covered to ensure that the projectile is as streamlined as possible. According to the invention, however, it is preferred that the recesses are open (claim 12). This prevents a cover or insert from detaching itself from the projectile, which can lead to supply disruptions or to a change in the outer and target ballistics. It is thereby also excluded that the cover or insert dissolves when hitting the projectile, thus forming a detached fragment.
- the drawing shows a cartridge 1 with a sleeve 3 and a projectile 5, which has a coaxial recess 7 from the tip.
- This recess 7 consists of a first section 9 with square cross-section, which opens into the projectile nose.
- the square section 9 continues with a recess 11 with a circular or circular cylindrical cross section, which forms a blind bore.
- the axes of the recesses 9 and 11 coincide with the common center axis 13 of projectile 5 and cartridge case 3 together.
- a gentle shoulder 15 is formed, with a small extension, which is in the middle of the sides of the square on each side only one tenth of a millimeter. This gentle distance from the recess with round cross-section 11 out ensures that do not tear off the bent flags after impact and deformation of the projectile.
- the length of the square recess 9 is only 4.0 mm and the length of the round recess 11 is only 2.0 mm.
- the projectile 5 itself has no separate, deformed and filled with lead coat. Rather, the projectile material is formed from a high-strength soft metal alloy, on which a guide layer of copper o. The like. Plated or galvanized can be.
- the weight of the projectile 5 is reduced only insignificantly by the two recesses 9, 11.
