Definitions

  • the invention relates to a urinal with a bowl, which forms a urinal basin, which has an outlet opening in its base, and with an odor trap connected to the outlet opening.
  • the odor trap In conventional urinals, the shell of which is mostly designed for wall mounting, the odor trap is located directly below the urinal basin, so that it is difficult to access during assembly and maintenance work.
  • waterless urinals are increasingly being used instead of urinals with water rinsing, in which in some embodiments a barrier liquid that is specifically lighter than water remains in the odor trap.
  • these waterless odor traps must be replaced from time to time or at least serviced, for example by replacing the sealing liquid, or losses due to evaporation must be replaced. Since the odor trap should therefore be easily accessible, it has been inserted directly into the floor of the urinal basin.
  • this has the disadvantage that the lid of the odor trap, which is usually made of plastic, is visible in the urinal basin and forms an unsightly and difficult-to-clean joint with the ceramic of the urinal basin.
  • the object of the invention is therefore to create a urinal in which the odor trap is concealed and is nevertheless arranged to be maintenance-friendly.
  • the shell forms an essentially vertical wall which separates the urinal basin from a chamber located behind it, and in that the odor trap is arranged in this chamber and is accessible from above.
  • the outlet opening runs obliquely from the bottom of the urinal basin through the vertical wall into the chamber which receives the odor trap.
  • the odor trap is therefore invisible behind the vertical wall. Nevertheless, the odor trap is easily accessible for maintenance work. All that is required to access the odor trap is an upper cover for the chamber behind the urinal basin to be removed so that the odor trap can be reached from above.
  • the odor trap itself can thus be of conventional design with the aid of a key which engages in the cover in a bayonet-like manner and is pulled out upwards.
  • the vertical wall separating the urinal basin from the chamber receiving the odor trap is preferably approximately semi-cylindrical, so that it bulges convexly into the urinal basin.
  • the chamber which can be either open or closed on the back facing the building wall, thus has the shape of an approximately semi-cylindrical vertical shaft and is preferably closed both at the upper end and at the lower end by a removable cover, which not only gives access to the odor trap, but also the wall mounting of the urinal basin is facilitated.
  • the convex shape of the vertical wall also has the advantage that the urine stream hitting the wall is better distributed and urine splashing back is minimized. Furthermore, this shape of the vertical wall allows a largely undercut-free design of the shell as a whole, so that the shell can also be injection molded from plastic materials and easily removed from the mold.
  • the invention also has the advantage that a forced ventilation valve can be arranged on the odor trap, which is then hidden behind the vertical wall and is therefore not visible when the urinal is in use and does not come into contact with urine either. Due to the forced ventilation of the trap, a significant disadvantage of conventional waterless urinals is avoided, which is that at a negative pressure in the pipe system, the barrier fluid "is removed by suction. The forced ventilation of the consumption is thus reduced to sealing liquid, and the barrier liquid need only be correspondingly greater intervals to be checked and / or supplemented.
  • a fragrance can also be added to the sealing liquid in the odor trap, so that conventional fragrance stones in the urinal basin can be dispensed with. Since the chamber receiving the odor trap is closed at the top, the fragrance can essentially only escape through the drain opening or openings in the bottom of the urinal basin, so that the release of the fragrance can be controlled and metered in a desirable manner.
  • the arrangement of the odor trap in the largely closed chamber also minimizes evaporation losses in the sealing liquid and any odor.
  • a larger storage container and an automatic metering system for sealing liquid and / or fragrance can also be arranged in the chamber behind the urinal basin.
  • the maintenance intervals are further extended by the automatic metering of the liquid.
