Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a tombstone for placement or placement on a grave according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • Tombstones have been known for centuries and are used for tombs of all kinds, in particular for graves with coffins or urn graves, as well as for human graves as well as for animal graves. Tombstones are either placed on the grave or, as a grave slab, placed on the grave.
  • tombstone is understood to mean any type and use of a tombstone or a grave plate described here, in particular also of solid materials other than stone.
  • Tombstones serve the purpose of providing information about the deceased being whose remains are buried underneath. Such information includes, for example, the name of a deceased person, year of birth and year of death, as well as ornaments, decorations or other information about the person or their environment. The term information is understood in the following all mentioned above, in particular word, font, numbers and decoration.
  • Tombstones are mostly made of natural stone. Also known are crosses made of wood, which fulfill the same functions as the tombstones. Tombstones must be largely stable attached to the tomb, so they are still found after many years in the same position as they were originally placed.
  • the information is usually placed in the form of inscriptions on the tombstone.
  • Another option is to attach letters, numbers and decorations to the gravestone. These are known to be made of different materials, such as metal.
  • the inscription in the tombstones is exposed to the weather and especially the acid rain and large temperature differences. Over time, the contours of the inscription diminish as the surface slowly corrodes. Mosses, lichens and / or algae begin to cover the surface over time. All this leads to the fact that over time the information becomes less and less recognizable.
  • US 4,304,076 describes a transparent grave stone in which the information is cast. A subsequent change of information, such as adding the name of the spouse, is not possible without destroying the grave stone.
  • a transparent grave plate is known in US 3,962,836, which describes a cavity under vacuum behind a transparent cover made of acrylic glass. A wearer with an inscription and, if desired, other objects are placed in the cavity prior to final sealing. If this cavity would contain air, that is Risk of formation of condensation with subsequent formation of deposits and mold formation.
  • the object of this invention is to describe a tombstone whose information weather-resistant also withstood very long time and whose information can be supplemented at a later date without having to destroy the tombstone.
  • the grave stone according to the invention has at least one front and at least one rear layer, wherein at least the front layer is substantially transparent.
  • Information is weather-resistant and corrosion-resistant in the form of image and / or writing behind the front transparent layer and in front of the back layer, with the front and rear layers being flatly sealed to each other and their edges. This prevents ingress of moisture, bacteria or air and deposits between layers.
  • By attaching the information inside the tombstone, which has a substantially smooth front surface a weather-related corrosion from the outside is also prevented. A later addition of additional information is possible because after the release of the seal access to the information is guaranteed.
  • the tombstone 10 shows an example of a tombstone 10 according to the invention in a finished, mounted embodiment, on the edge of a grave with its planting 17.
  • the tombstone 10 consists of three transparent layers 11a, b and c and a further nontransparent layer 11f, for example of stone ,
  • the foremost layer 11a preferably has a smooth outer surface 12.
  • a smooth surface prevents the deposition of dirt and the attachment of lichens, mosses or algae.
  • the surface can be configured with nanotechnology such that thanks to a lotus effect the surface has an increased dirt resistance.
  • Fig. 1b shows the tombstone 10 in longitudinal section. This shows the three transparent layers 11 a-c and the rearmost, nontransparent layer 11 f.
  • the information 14 are mounted in this embodiment on the backs of the layers 11 b and 11 c. However, it is imperative that all layers 11 at least before the information 14 is transparent. The contours of the layers 11 may be different.
  • the information 14 may include letters and numbers as well as decorations in shapes of ornaments or imaginative representations. In order to achieve a three-dimensional effect, the information 14 may be applied on different layers.
  • the information 14 may be chemically or physically attached to the interior surfaces 13. Preferred methods are sandblasting, engraving, etching, scribing and backglazing. In addition, it is conceivable that information 14 is poured, pressed or inserted into the layer during the production of a layer. Such information 14 can also be small memorabilia or photos.
  • the groove created by engraving can be filled with a transparent or non-transparent, colored mass. On the one hand this emphasizes the clarity of the information 14, on the other hand this prevents deposits and / or impurities from forming in this intermediate space.
  • Each transparent layer 11ac is made of a solid material, preferably glass, laminated glass, safety glass, plexiglass, art glass, or a combination thereof.
  • the foremost layer 11 a is also weather-resistant.
  • the individual layers 11 are attached flat to each other and sealed at the edge.
  • the edge seal prevents bacteria or moisture from entering the interstices and creating contaminants.
  • the layers 11 may, for example, be bonded together by gluing, screwing, welding, sealing or clamping, or by any other suitable mechanical or chemical means.
  • a frame may be attached for attachment.
  • the seal may be, for example, a silicone coating in the edge zones.
  • a preferred choice for the materials of the transparent layers 11a-e is laminated safety glass, preferably at least three layers, in particular four to five layers. This ensures that the grave stone 10 is unbreakable and can withstand wind and weather for a long time.
  • the back of the first layer 11a is covered with a film 15.
  • This film may be transparent or partially or completely one or more colors.
  • the non-adhesive side of this film may be painted or labeled.
  • the tombstone 10 may preferably be additionally stabilized with a holder 16.
  • This can be made of natural or artificial stone or of another material, such as metal.
  • FIG. 2 shows a further exemplary embodiment of a tombstone 10 according to the invention in a perspective view (a) as well as in a cross section through the upper half (b).
  • the grave stone is similar to a grave plate.
  • a slight inclination promotes drainage of rainwater.
  • the designations of FIG. 1 largely correspond to those of FIGS. 2 to 4.
  • an opening 18 is laterally mounted in the holder 16, from which a drawer can be pulled out.
  • a lighting fixture 19 which illuminates the grave stone 10 from behind.
  • the lighting body 19 may be connected to a battery, which preferably with a solar cell 20, which may be mounted in the region of the tombstone 10, fed and can be automatically brought into operation by means of a brightness sensor in the twilight.
  • the lighting fixture 19 can also be operated by mains voltage.
  • FIG. 3 shows a further exemplary embodiment of a tombstone 10 according to the invention in a perspective view (a) as well as in a longitudinal section through the middle (b).
  • the holder 16 consists of a solid stone having an opening in which the layers 11 of the grave stone 10 according to the invention are inserted.
  • preferably all layers 11 are transparent.
  • 5 layers 11 are provided, preferably on the back of the foremost layer 11 a and on the front of the rearmost layer 11 e an adhesive film 15 is attached.
  • the inner layers 11 b-d are protected against breakage.
  • the bonded layers 11 can be removed from the holder 16, detach from each other and replace the broken layers 11 a and / or e by new layers with adhesive films 15.
  • FIG. 4 shows a further exemplary embodiment of a tombstone 10 according to the invention in a perspective view from the rear (a) as well as in a longitudinal section through the middle (b).
  • This embodiment in contrast to FIG. 3, only a front security film behind the foremost layer 11 a, since from the rear no bumps are to be expected because of the Rear side of a cover 18 is mounted spaced. This creates a space in which objects can be brought, which are protected from the weather. These items may be flowers or memorabilia or lighting fixtures 19, for example in the form of candles. In order for the necessary oxygen supply is ensured for the candles, air holes 21 may be attached to the cover 18. Another opening 18 in the holder 16 can receive a drawer in which, for example, reserve candles or matches can be stored.
