Definitions

  • the invention relates to a plastic injection-molded part with adjoining molding portions with different wall thickness and common viewing surface on a wall side.
  • a dashboard as a plastic injection mold with a bulge towards the viewer thickening at a dashboard end known.
  • cylindrical cavities opening into the thickening in the rear side are formed, which terminate near the visible surface of the thickening.
  • the corresponding injection mold half is accordingly provided with a plurality of cylindrical pins.
  • This strip which can be used as side protection strip for motor vehicles, has a strip core made of a relatively hard synthetic resin, which is encased in a comparatively soft synthetic resin layer.
  • One of the two border areas is more pronounced than the other.
  • Both the visible side of the bar as well as the inside of the bar each have a kink-free more or less curved course, so that the remote from the body center area of the bar continuously merges into the two edge areas.
  • the strip Due to the different contraction of the two resins during removal, the strip curves around a curvature axis perpendicular to the attachment surface (FIG. 9). In order to avoid this curvature, a relatively deep groove is formed in the more pronounced edge region, possibly in addition to grooves of shallow depth in both edge regions.
  • the invention has for its object to provide a plastic injection molded part according to the preamble of claim 1, which has a view of sinkholes substantially free viewing surface at low manufacturing costs and reduced manufacturing costs.
  • the number of grooves is determined in such a way that the accumulations of material which exceed the comparatively smaller wall thickness are divided into individual regions. Even comparatively broad areas thicker wall thickness, which are often required for technical reasons, can thus be divided into individual areas to avoid sinkholes.
  • the trained with the grooves area is formed due to its greater wall thickness and thus greater strength as a mounting area, which serves to attach the molding to a support.
  • This attachment area will be formed by an edge area of the molding, e.g. when, according to a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, the molded part is formed by a side protection strip of a motor vehicle.
  • a particularly cost-effective injection molding tool for producing the molding described above has according to the invention on spring steel sheets, which form the grooves.
  • An essential aspect of the invention is that the material weakenings in the partial area with the comparatively larger wall thickness in the production-favorable scoring form the shrinkage behavior particular vibration measure of the two adjacent molding portions of different wall thickness match each other, so that the molded part has high dimensional accuracy, since the usual sink marks or Calluses are avoided.
  • the shape and number of grooves and their arrangement relative to each other and within the area with the greater wall thickness depends on the concrete shape of the molded part. In general, relatively narrow but comparatively deep grooves have been proven according to the invention, which ends at a distance from the visible surface, which is in the range of relatively smaller wall thickness. The strength of the molding is thereby generally not affected.
  • a preferred application of the invention is that of a vehicle body of the two extending in the longitudinal direction of the bar edge regions which are connected to each other over the relatively thinner and often curved central region. These two edge regions are formed with the form-true grooves according to the invention. In addition, the end regions at the two longitudinal ends of the strip can also be provided with the form-true grooves.
  • injection molding tool 10 has an upper tool part 12 and a composite of several parts lower tool part 14, which define the mold-separating surface 16 between them.
  • a mold cavity 19 which can be produced by the injection mold 10, the outer shape of the mold Determines molding.
  • this molding is a side protection strip 20, which in the FIGS. 2 to 4 is shown in the demolded state.
  • the wall 22 is curved like a vault and thus forms after attachment to a Karroserieblech 24 (in FIG. 2 indicated by dashed lines) a cavity 26 with the Karroserieblech 24.
  • the side protection strip 20 can deflect in the event of a corresponding shock load, so as to prevent damage to the body panel 24.
  • an acute angle ⁇ results between the top side of the side protection strip 20 forming the visible surface 28 and the surface of the body panel 24 in the attachment area.
  • an edge region 30 which is essentially triangular in cross-section is formed on both longitudinal edges of the strip 20 in each case. Its underside forms a parallel to the top of the body panel 24 adhesive surface 32 for a double-sided adhesive tape 34.
  • Another boundary surface 36 of the edge region 30 faces the cavity 26 and extends perpendicular to the adhesive surface 32 and parallel to the Ausformraum or tool axis 18 within the injection mold 10th
  • the outer edge does not expire pointed according to the angle ⁇ , but is rounded and ultimately terminates at right angles to the body panel 24.
  • the wall thickness a of the molding perpendicular to the slightly curved visible surface 28 is followed, starting from the wall 22 with a constant, comparatively smaller wall thickness a1, preferably 2 mm, then, upon entry into the edge region 30, there first results in an increase in the wall thickness a up to a maximum value a2 corresponding to approximately 3 times the value of a1. Then the wall thickness a drops off towards the edge.
  • This wall thickness a which varies greatly in the transition from the wall 22 to the edge region 30 and also within the edge region, would lead, without the measures to be described below, to the visible surface 28 having clearly visible sink marks and calluses in the transition region. These are due to a different degree of shrinkage of the plastic material during the cooling from the liquid state to the solid state.
  • these sink marks are prevented in that the two edge regions have greater wall thickness than the central region 22 and grooves 38 are incorporated in both edge regions and are arranged and dimensioned such that they end at a distance from the visible surface 28 which is comparatively smaller Wand43liegt, so that the aforementioned different degrees of shrinkage is avoided.
  • two grooves 38 are each formed in the respective edge region 30. They each open out in the adhesive surface 32. They are therefore not visible from the outside and also closed by the tape 34. Moisture can not penetrate into the grooves 38.
  • the adhesive effect between adhesive tape 34 and side protection strip 20 also improves. It has been shown that the adhesive tape 34 is easier to apply to the adhesive surface 32 provided with grooves 38 because air pockets between the adhesive surface 32 and the adhesive tape 34 are avoided since the air flows over the grooves 38 can escape. With a continuous adhesive surface this is not the case.
  • the width b of the grooves 38 is preferably 0.3 to 0.5 mm. Broader grooves would reduce the adhesive surfaces, thinner grooves cause thinner spring steel sheets 40 in the tool and would accordingly be unstable in the region in which they protrude into the mold cavity 19.
  • the transverse spacing c of adjacent grooves 38 is in the range of the comparatively smaller wall thickness a1 of about 2 mm.
  • the grooves 38 are perpendicular to the respective adhesive surface 32 and thus (within the injection tool 10) parallel to the axis 18. Within the respective edge region 30, the grooves 38 at a distance d from the visible surface 28, which corresponds to the wall thickness a1 substantially.
  • the grooves 38 are produced in a particularly simple manner in that the lower tool part 14 is provided with the already mentioned spring steel plates 40 which project upwardly into the cavity 19 and are arranged and dimensioned according to the desired grooves 38. Since they run parallel to the tool axis 18, there are no problems during demolding. Mention is still a partial cavity 19a, which serves the formation of a Anspritzlasche.
  • FIGS. 3 and 4 can be seen in addition to the two provided with the grooves 38 edge portions 30 a left-side end portion 50 in the form of a bar 20 final and transverse or obliquely to the strip longitudinal direction extending reinforcing web 52a. Its in the exemplary embodiment substantially flat underside 56 is continuous in the adhesive surface 32 of the two edge regions 30 via.
  • the strip height of the end region 50 (and thus the local wall thickness a4 of the strip 20) is approximately 11 mm at the apex S. It decreases towards the edge regions 30, but it is always significantly higher than the wall thickness a1 of the wall 22.
  • the two longitudinally extending edge regions 30 and the end region 50 and a possibly provided second end region 50 at the other end of the strip 20 are encompassed by a narrow web 54, approximately 0.4 mm high, at the respective outer edge.
  • This web 54 serves to ensure that the applied double-sided adhesive tapes 34 remain less visible after the application of the strip to the body.
  • the double-sided adhesive tapes 34 are about 0.8 mm thick, with about half of this thickness is covered by the web 54, which is 0.4 mm high.
  • At least one further reinforcing web 52b may be formed spaced from the end regions 50 on the ledge 20, as in FIG FIG. 3 indicated on the right. Also, this reinforcing web 52b is provided with the grooves 38 according to the invention.
  • the longitudinal adhesive surfaces 32 are widened around the surface which forms the at least one transversely or obliquely extending reinforcing web 52a or 52b.
  • the grooves 38 of the two longitudinal edge regions 30 extend almost to the respective outer edge end and the grooves 38 of the transversely or obliquely extending reinforcing webs 52a, 52b extend approximately as far as the respective edge region 30.
  • the grooves 38 of the transverse or inclined reinforcing webs 52a, 52b are in the same manner as the grooves 38 in the longitudinal edge portions 30 through in the lower mold half of FIG. 1 used spring steel plates 40 formed. This is easily possible because these spring steel plates 40 extend in the direction of the tool axis 18.
  • the contour of the respective groove 38 of the reinforcing web 52a and 52b approximately follows the contour of the boundary of the cavity 26 according to FIG. 2 ,
  • the groove 38 thus terminates at a distance d2 from the visible surface 28 of substantially the thickness a1 of the wall 22 following the end region 50 FIG. 2 equivalent.
  • the width b of the grooves 38 and their mutual distance c corresponds in each case to that of the grooves 38 of the edge regions 30 as indicated above.
  • Strips with comparatively narrow edge regions 30 and, reinforcing webs 52a, 52b may be designed with only one groove 38 instead of two grooves 38 according to the invention. With comparatively wide edge regions 30 or reinforcement webs 52a, 52b, three or more grooves 38 can also be formed.
  • the side protection strip 20 described above is characterized by particularly easy manufacturability, comparatively low use of material and impression-free visible surface 28.
